Monthly Reset: May 2026
Word of the Month: Rejuvenation
Happy May everyone! Am I the only one who feels like this year has dragged on so slow? Maybe that’s because Nashville had one of the craziest winters in decades but seems everyone I talk to agrees this year has been wild. Maybe that’s why I’m in my slow life homebody era but, it’s been amazing so I can’t complain.
I think this is the first May that I’ve been this happy and honestly I think my slow living mentality has been the main reason. I’ve planted a thriving garden. I enjoy delicious coffee drinks made by moi in the sun with birds chirping and dogs playing in my yard. I take morning walks without headphones, podcasts or music—just nature. My home feels like the most welcoming place. I’m finally seeing that April showers really do bring May flowers.
I’m starting a new tradition with my reset routine and setting a “word of the month” to really help me focus on how I want to spend the next few weeks. I sometimes feel like the goals I set become daunting or forgotten entirely. Setting a word of the month and putting it on my phone background and into my calendar app may help make things feel even more attainable. Instead of looking at 4 different things I need to achieve, I can see one word and let that be my guide through the month.
May monthly reset routine is here and I’m talking about goal setting for a new month, resetting for fall, my monthly favorites and how I’m celebrating the changing season. It’s time to reflect, recenter and reset for the month of May.
In case you haven’t seen resets from previous months, this is a guide to doing a monthly reset so that you can reevaluate your goals, see what you did well over the past 30 days and what you might need to work on over the next four weeks. Incorporating this into my life has helped me stop and smell the roses, get honest with myself about what I really want and realize what goals are attainable so I set myself up for success.
Here’s the breakdown and guide I follow each month for you so that you can start doing it as well and be prepared for every month and take control of the precious time you have. Let’s get to it!

May Monthly Reset
May is actually impressing me this year. I have this overwhelming sense of calm and happiness along with ambition to start new projects. I’ve become a total plant mama and I have no clue how it happened. I swear, it feels like I woke up one day and suddenly knew things about the pH of dirt and what will make a tomato plant happy.
I chose rejuvenation as my word of the month since I’ve been feeling fresh, energetic and I’ve been adding life back to my yard and home since the harsh ice storm earlier this year. I want to keep this feeling as long as I can and this month seems like the perfect time to enjoy the fruits of my labors.
This month, my main goal is to be present, enjoy the outdoors, work on new projects, spend quality time with friends, family and my pups (yes, I have two now!). I’m still going to set goals, of course, they’re just going to be focused on different outcomes. Let’s take a look at last month and start planing for May!

None — didn’t do a reset for April
Clearly, April was not a super successful month…at least not on paper. It’s weird because I feel like I got such a strong grasp on things that needed it like my morning routine, fitness, mental health and overall happiness…just not in the form goal setting and checking off boxes.
Sometimes we need those months where we don’t set goals or make plans. We just simply take things day by day and slowly recenter our entire lives without an added stress of completing a goal by a certain deadline. Apparently April was that month for me.
Journal Prompts
What did I accomplish this month?
I allowed myself to find peace and happiness. I fell into a morning routine that works for me and getting a morning walk in before starting my day has been the most rewarding way to wake up. Getting 2,000 steps in by 9am and hearing birds chirping has recentered my entire day. I’ve felt such a positive shift in my mental health thanks to the time I take for myself throughout the day.
How was I feeling this month? Why?
Peaceful. Taking time to be kind and not push myself too hard has felt amazing. Plus, you can only get so mad when tending to a garden.
What events happened this month?
Spring Fair at Cheekwood with two of my favorite people and local shopping at Franklin’s Main Street Festival. Oh, and just casually adopted another fur baby. Someone seriously needs to hold me back from walking into a shelter! I’m officially a doodle mama of two.
List some things you learned this month.
Being at peace is worth slowing down — even in a world that encourages consistent growth
Investing in yourself sometimes means doing less
What can I do better next month?
Stick to the routines I’ve created and complete the goals I set for myself. This may sound like the exact opposite of what made April so wonderful but I’m in a place where I crave that goal crushing feeling. I have a hunger to do more because I took the time I needed.
Highs and Lows
Highs: nurturing everything in my garden and watching them all start to grow
Lows: car issues so big I practically bought my car a car
May Goals
Let Rejuvenation May begin! I already feel like a new version of myself is being born and I really want to hone in on that. My step goal has been getting me out at least three times a day with my pups to enjoy the sun, chats with neighbors, and mental health boosts. Not to mention, a deeper craving for better food, sleep and fitness routine.
I’m very grateful to have my mother visiting for Mother’s Day! Given how her last visit to Nashville went I’m surprised she hasn’t sworn off coming back ever again. I’ve been searching for new recipes and ways to incorporate all the organic goodies I’m growing into my dishes. With a better routine I’m having more time to read, as well. I just finished So Young, So Old by Grant Ginder and now starting Into the Blue by Emma Brodie. I’m going to see how quickly I go through it because I was very torn between this one and The Wedding People by Alison Espach.
I’ve got some non-toxic skincare and candles I’d like to create and begin selling so this month I’ll be working on the blog, of course, along with expanding. Keep your eyes peeled on that Shop section because I’m hoping to have everything available by the end of the month.

Morning walks have become my favorite thing but I hate getting dressed in something I may have wanted to wear for the rest of the day only to break a sweat, shower and not want to put it back on. Having a dedicated morning walk outfit that I set out each night has been making my days so much smoother.
These aren’t something I’d choose to do a hardcore workout in since they do roll up a little if I do a lunge or squat, but that just makes them even more perfect for simply getting my steps in and feeling good while I do it!
I have officially found it: my home’s signature scent! I stumbled across AirScent’s oils when I was trying to find non-toxic and pet-friendly scents for my home and I got a smaller bottle to put in an empty Jo Malone diffuser bottle. One day later I was kicking myself for not buying the big bottle because This. Scent. Is. IT!
I picked up their waterless diffuser as well so my home gets that hotel lobby level scent boost. Not too heavy, but oh so present and perfect. The scents are so pure that you can simply put them in a bottle with reed diffuser sticks and your home will soak up the scent. This one is inspired by the Ritz’s oceanside hotels but there are so many different options available. I actually grabbed the four bottle minis set of other well known hotel scents and they’re surprisingly on the nose!
Save this checklist so you can use it every month!
