Monthly Reset: October 2026

Word of the Month: Comfort

Is there anything better than the fall season? Especially after the summer we’ve had this year? Honestly, after this year’s heat wave flood, I’m about to find a place to live that never goes above 75 degrees. Now that it’s finally October, I can dive into everything fall, spooky and cozy—at least without judgment. I’ve been enjoying my PSL’s since the end of August but now we’re kicking things into full gear!

October monthly reset routine is here and I’m talking about goal setting for a new month, prepping for fall, my monthly favorites and how I’m celebrating the changing season along with a new challenge for myself! It’s time to reflect, recenter and reset for the month of October.

In case you haven’t seen resets from previous months, this is a guide to doing a monthly reset so that you can reevaluate your goals, see what you did well over the past 30 days and what you might need to work on over the next four weeks. Incorporating this into my life has helped me stop and smell the roses, get honest with myself about what I really want and realize what goals are attainable so I set myself up for success.

Here’s the breakdown and guide I follow each month for you so that you can start doing it as well and be prepared for every month and take control of the precious time you have. Let’s get to it!

October Monthly Reset

Everything about this month is making me feel so positive and cozy and I’m only a day into it. The weather feels so amazing that even my fig tree, peach tree and raspberry bushes are growing new sprouts. I can get my 10k steps in without feeling like I’ll drop to the ground. I’m breaking in my new Le Creuset pumpkin dutch oven with delicious soups—the lasagna soup I made last night is truly one of the best things I’ve ever tasted!

I chose “comfort” for this month’s focus word because I want to spend the whole month focused on coziness, self-love, enjoying my surroundings and the seasonal decor everywhere. I’m also taking on a new challenge in the Ladder app that is rooted in balance and consistency—something I can truly commit to without feeling like I’m over-exerting myself. Let’s take a look at last month and start planing for October!

September wasn’t supposed to be a month of big moves. I wanted to celebrate my birthday for an extended period and give myself the freedom to enjoy every moment. Given the fact I’d be traveling and falling out of my normal routine—along with losing access to some of my fitness gear—it just made sense to allow myself some extra grace. We all need those gifts to ourself sometimes!

My health & wellness goals started out with a 75 Strong challenge but, when I was traveling, I decided to be more lenient. Eating healthy on long drives can be difficult, followed by wanting to indulge in special meals on my trip. My 10K step goal was very easy to achieve thanks to wandering the Disney parks and taking Maddi & Charlotte on walks throughout Fort Wilderness. I’m still reading my new book Lifespan: Why We Age—and Why We Don’t Have To so that’s moving to my October goals. Same goes for my new fiction book Road Trip. I love my Mary Kay Andrews books but this one seems like it’s going to be my favorite!

I let my work take a bit of a backseat in September so October will be focused on getting more posts written and working on new outlets.

Journal Prompts

What did I accomplish this month?

My step goal has never looked better! Enjoying my morning and evening walks each day with Maddi & Charlotte. I’m also crushing my financial goals thanks to Financial Feminist. I never thought I’d be someone that feels super confident with money but I guess never say never.

How was I feeling this month? Why?

Peaceful and excited. Vacations are amazing for your mental health and always make me feel both at peace and excited for what the day can bring when I’m in a new place. In fact, I’ve planned two more trips before the end of the year and a few for next year.

What events happened this month?

Enjoying a week at The Cabins at Fort Wilderness with my pups and mother. Indulging in delicious meals at EPCOT’s Food & Wine Festival and Disney’s restaurants (don’t judge because their meals truly are top notch). Horseback riding on my birthday with a horse that has a personality so close to mine it’s spooky. Hosting a joint birthday dinner out with my closest friends—Virgos unite!

List some things you learned this month.

Smiling at others and asking how they’re doing is sometimes all it takes to turn their day around

Carrying yourself with confidence and happiness changes how everyone interacts with you

What can I do better next month?

Commit to new fitness and work goals.

Consider yourself warned: once you start making homemade soups, you cannot go back to the canned wannabes!

This time of year, I feel like soup and grilled cheese is practically my dinner every night. I have a dutch oven from the Lodge I love using for soups, mashed potatoes, pot roasts and more but I’ve been eyeing this seasonal pot from Le Creuset for years. Finally pulled the trigger and I couldn’t be happier! It’s definitely a splurge but one that will last forever and be a staple in my kitchen every fall.

Years of heat damage and putting my hair through intense treatments has taken its toll. I’m hoping my strands will accept my deepest apology with this molecular repair hair mask.

This mask has over 32k 4-5 star reviews and I can see why. I got a sample size from Sephora for my birthday gift and noticed a difference after one use so I bought the full size. It recommended to use this mask for 4-6 washes before using it once a week, then as needed. Given the results I've seen so far, I can’t wait to see just how much better my hair can get by the middle of the month.
