Monthly Reset: December 2025
It’s finally here y’all! Christmas time is upon us and it’s my absolute favorite time of the year. My home is covered in garland, Christmas lights and decor. Delicious meals are coming out of my kitchen. Every breath I take is filled with the scent of pine, peppermint and cinnamon. I savor every second of this season but it’s especially easy to fall out of my routines and habits if I don’t take time to do my reset and set some goals for the month.
This month has been especially trying and I almost didn’t do a reset at all. As you can see, I’m posting this more than halfway through the month when I usually do my resets at the very beginning, but sometimes life throws you a curveball. Instead of giving into the downward spiral, I decided to do what I could with as much time as I could possibly find. Life happens and it’s okay for us to fall behind sometimes so long as we find a point to grab the reins, get ourselves somewhat together and start moving forward again.
December monthly reset routine is here and I’m talking about goal setting for a new month, how I’m celebrating the holidays, my monthly favorites and how I want to finish out the year. It’s time to reflect, recenter and reset for the month of December.
In case you haven’t seen resets from previous months, this is a guide to doing a monthly reset so that you can reevaluate your goals, see what you did well over the past 30 days and what you might need to work on over the next four weeks. Incorporating this into my life has helped me stop and smell the roses, get honest with myself about what I really want and realize what goals are attainable so I set myself up for success.
Here’s the breakdown and guide I follow each month for you so that you can start doing it as well and be prepared for every month and take control of the precious time you have. Let’s get to it!

December Monthly Reset
The month of December is all about transition, reflection and rebirth. Many of us have goals we want to reach before the year’s end that often got put into the “I’ll do it until tomorrow” bin of life. Now the time is running out and they’re moving to “I’ll do it next year.” It’s a stress inducing cycle that makes your goals feel even less achievable. Give yourself a break and allow time for rest and renewal along with celebration and indulgence. The Christmas season only comes around once a year. Enjoy it!
For me personally, I’ve been struggling to enjoy a lot of this month. On December 1st my mother (who was visiting for Thanksgiving and her birthday) caught the nasty stomach bug going around…or so we thought. Three days later, we’re in the Emergency Room for appendicitis and AFIB going wild. It’s December 18th and she’s still in the hospital, leaving us wondering if she’s even going to be able to celebrate Christmas in a robe that actually covers her backside. Dealing with this has made it difficult to feel festive for both of us but we’re counting our blessings everywhere we can.
Now that I’ve finally taken time to sit down and do some planning for what’s left of December, let’s get to it!
Last Month’s Goals
Last month, my main goal was to intentionally practice gratitude, celebrate the holiday season, host a great Friendsgiving and enjoy the end of the year. Ironically, I said that I wouldn’t be slacking off and 30 days later that’s all I feel like I've done—even though I think the reason why is pretty acceptable. I wanted to take gratitude walks with Maddi, try out Peloton’s workout plan, read the entire Practical Magic series and plan out my holiday posts.
I like setting 3-4 goals for 3 areas of my life plus making a finance goal so that I keep things compartmentalized and bite-sized. Let’s take a look at how I did.

November was a month of gratitude, peace and holiday planning—which I think I handled quite well. Getting my steps in with an added mindfulness felt amazing. I hosted a fabulous Friendsgiving that everyone enjoyed! I finally got to find out what happened to Aunt Franny’s poor Ethan after 20 years of wondering whether it was accident or fate. I felt excited about planning my holiday posts. Sadly, they didn’t get written with all my trips to and from the hospital, but there’s always next year. Making sure my mother gets better and feels loved and cared for during this hospital stint is much more important.
My Peloton goals are moving to January (as I’m sure many of you will relate to) but I love how my body feels thanks to pilates so at least I’ve kept that habit going strong. I didn’t read a book about health but I was working my way through four Practical Magic books and a girl can only read so many books at a time. I have a few I’m excited to read in the new year though to make up for it.
I had fun writing new posts and I’m putting together a New Year, New You bundle of posts for January that can continue throughout the year. Looking ahead and being more proactive about the year to come is already making me hopeful and excited for what’s to come. Treating last month more calmly along with not doing what I enjoy as much in December is giving me the urge to get back into a rhythm of things. Sometimes a forced pause is exactly what we need.
Journal Prompts
What did I accomplish this month?
I slowed down and took great care of my mindset, health and home.
How was I feeling this month? Why?
Grateful.
I felt incredibly present throughout the month, looked forward to my Friendsgiving party and having my mother visit for Thanksgiving—both of which went amazing—and finally got my beloved sweater weather!
What events happened this month?
Friendsgiving was by far my favorite event of the month! I got to check out a holiday pop-up bar at the Fairlane Hotel with a friend that put me right in the Christmas spirit. I cooked a delicious Thanksgiving meal for my mother and one of my best friends. The perfect Christmas tree was in my home by noon on Black Friday.
List some things you learned this month.
Hosting a big event doesn’t have to be stressful
Practicing gratitude truly does make your life better
What can I do better next month?
I’m cheating a little here since I’m writing this during December but, now that I've seen how the aforementioned "next month” is going: take time to care for myself. A friend told me that you can’t be a good support system unless you’re supporting yourself, too.
Highs and Lows
Highs: Friendsgiving, Thanksgiving, Christmas pop-up bars, daily walks with meditations and Maddi
Lows: my stove and oven was determined to ruin every day (including my holiday hosting) but it was quickly fixed and we’re back to normal
December Goals
DECEMBER GOALS: Enjoy as much of the Christmas season as possible, take care of my mental health and keep my mother as happy and healthy as she can be in the hospital.

It’s been freezing here in Nashville and my usual leggings just aren’t cutting it so I've had to get something a bit more equipped for the season. These fleece lined leggings have been amazing! I’ve tried out a few over the years but they’re always too thin or too thick. Finally, I’ve found the perfect pair
Y’all know I love a good puzzle and this year I’m so glad I have a holiday themed one to help me relax. Take some of the stress off your day and have fun putting this gorgeous one together!
