Monthly Reset: August 2026

Word of the Month: Ascent

Hey y’all! A new month is almost upon us and you know what that means—it’s reset time. August is often referred to as the “Sunday of Summer”. I’m actually a huge fan of Sundays and love doing my weekly deep clean & reset so this reference makes me love the month even more!

We’ve established I’m a fall girlie but, I did try and embrace this year’s summer more than past years. The severe heat waves that took over this season though have confirmed my true and genuine love of the ‘ber months. Before we get there, let’s have our Sunday Reset of the Summer and set some intentions for the month of August.

August monthly reset routine is here and I’m talking about goal setting for a new month, resetting for fall, my monthly favorites and how I’m celebrating the changing season. It’s time to reflect, recenter and reset for the month of August.

In case you haven’t seen resets from previous months, this is a guide to doing a monthly reset so that you can reevaluate your goals, see what you did well over the past 30 days and what you might need to work on over the next four weeks. Incorporating this into my life has helped me stop and smell the roses, get honest with myself about what I really want and realize what goals are attainable so I set myself up for success.

Here’s the breakdown and guide I follow each month for you so that you can start doing it as well and be prepared for every month and take control of the precious time you have. Let’s get to it!

August Monthly Reset

Oh, the breath of fresh air that is August. I truly love this “buffer month,” if you will. School is starting back up so things are a bit slower around town. The final days of summer are even more enjoyable with late sunsets and about 10º lower temperatures (thank god!) making patio dining a must. Planning for the holidays can begin so they go smoothly. Before anyone comes for me, it’s just planning not decorating. I practice a lot of restraint when it comes to decorating day and wait until at least mid-September.

I chose “ascent” for this month’s focus word since I’m focusing on staying motivated and rising up to reach my goals. I’m in the middle of a health challenge that I want to be successful without taking over my life and happiness. Remaining committed to that goal and reaching it before I take a vacation in September is something I’d love to achieve. I’m also trying a new fitness app and will be testing out whether it’s worth continuing or not. Hilary Duff is their spokesperson and, in true millennial fashion, we listen to Lizzie!

Let’s take a look at last month and start planing for August!

So July was certainly a mix—which can be good but, not exactly what I had hoped for. Honestly, these heat waves and a few other unexpected issues put me into the moodiest of moods. I had the wherewithal to stick to my higher priority goals in each area, find one outlet of relief and call it a day. I’m not going to specifically call those things blessings because they drove me way too crazy, however, they have enhanced the feeling of resetting and improving during August! I’m still reading the last two books in the Off Campus series and yes, they’re absolutely worth getting lost in!

What did I accomplish this month?

I stayed committed to my 75 Strong Challenge and I’m enjoying it so much more this time around than when I’ve attempted it before. I made it attainable and sustainable which is the reason most people don’t complete “75 Hard”—it’s too restrictive.

How was I feeling this month? Why?

Strained. There are months where every time you turn around it seems you run into a new problem. Sadly, this month really took the cake in that department.

What events happened this month?

4th of July Block Party with some of my best friends. I’ve missed classic neighborhood block parties so much and this one touched the most nostalgic part of my childhood!

List some things you learned this month.

Breathe through the frustration

Channeling your inner child feels embarrassing at first—then it’s just fun!

What can I do better next month?

Commit to my goals and stay focused on setting myself up for the final months of the year. August is definitely going to be my calm transition month

Highs and Lows

Highs: spending the 4th of July away from insane crowds downtown and with friends at a wonderful block party; trying out a new restaurant with my girlfriends; ending the month with a much needed facial and massage

Lows: damages to my car and fighting with a very corrupt HOA manager; severe heat waves that crushed my AC unit

August Goals

Time to ascend and rise up with my goals and ambitions! My goals this month are all about rising above, planning for the future, embracing the journey and completing what I started during the end of June.

I have a trip planned in September and still on track for finishing my 75 Strong Challenge the day before heading down there. I’m going to enjoy my trip but honestly, I don’t think I want to stop my “challenge”. It’s really just intentionally living healthier.

I’m almost finished with reading the Off Campus series and, if you haven’t fallen deep into this universe, consider this your sign to dive in now! I swear, Elle Kennedy’s writing has completely changed my brain chemistry and healed parts of me I didn’t even know were broken. I was hoping to move onto the Briar U series once I finished these 4 books but fall season should be in full swing soon and it’s going to be all about Practical Magic!

Oh my gosh, the obsession I have with these shorts is so deep! I bought one pair and went back to buy every color a day later. I usually feel like I can’t wear light colored leggings or shorts because they always come with that annoying front seam that makes it look like I have camel toe. Yuck!

These shorts hug my waist so perfectly that even I’m checking myself out. They don’t ride up during my walks or workouts or feel like they’re too short. I think I have about 15 of these now and I’ll definitely be living in them.

In case you’ve heard about sea moss gel and wondered if it’s worth the hype, yes it certainly is! But not all are made equal. Where it comes from makes all the difference between a tasty gel and something that will actually help you feel better. After one jar, I noticed my stomach was less bloated, my energy levels were rising and I wasn’t feeling the struggle of digesting the “food” we’ve got here in America.
