August is here and I’m so happy the crazy heat is finally breaking and it’s feeling a little more like fall each day. I’m dying to dive into everything pumpkin spice but, once again, I’m reminding myself to stay present and enjoy where I’m at now. There’s still a few weeks of summer left and I’m enjoying as much of it as possible. Here’s my monthly selects that are keeping me happy, present and calm.
Finding shorts with this wide leg tailored cut has always been so difficult for me but I’ve finally found a pair that fits perfectly at the waist without having pockets stick out and make everything look all wrong. I’m building a capsule wardrobe and going through a phase of wanting to find more timeless pieces. These shorts are a must have! They’re breathable and allow for movement, let you sit down without feeling too tight at the waist thanks to the elasticity and look cute with anything you pair them with.
Korean beauty products are some of the best and I stumbled across this medicube Collagen Overnight Wrapping Mask. I’m seriously in love! At first, it was kinda weird putting on a mask that I was going to sleep in, but it dries in about 15 minutes so there’s no worry of it making a mess on your pillow while you sleep. If you’re like me and loved peeling glue off your fingers as a kid this mask will be your new favorite thing!
Waking up each morning to peel this off is so soothing and my skin looks phenomenal! I put it on after my nighttime moisturizer and it truly keeps everything sealed in while also enhancing my skin’s elasticity with a collagen boost while I sleep. This is sure to be a product that will live in my skincare routine forever!
If there’s anything I trust Jonathan Van Ness with—besides everything—it’s hair! I’m very grateful to have naturally curly hair but if I just let it dry without any products it’s going to turn out looking crazy! I got a tester size of this styling cream and instantly fell in love. My frizziness was non-existent, the natural texture of my hair was perfectly tamed without being weighed down and my hair stayed soft and shiny. That one tester use was enough to make me buy the full size bottle so my hair can take a little break from the heat.
I wish I could paint free handed but if I want my creations to come out looking like they were done by someone over the age of 3, I’m gonna need a paint by numbers. Painting is not my strong suit, but sitting on my patio with a paint by numbers kit helps me destress from the day, enjoy the outdoors, tap into my creativity and be rewarded with a gorgeous new piece of artwork to hang on my wall. I just received this landscape design and something about it just feels perfect for this time of year!
In case you missed it, we’re in a Colleen Hoover movie era, and the trailer for Regretting You just came out. The way I RAN to amazon to buy the book as soon as it ended is probably the fastest I’ve ever moved in my whole life!
The story is told from two perspectives—Clara’s and her mother Morgan’s—after Clara’s father and her aunt are in a fatal car accident. Her and Morgan are left with the aftermath of handling their betrayal, processing their grief, finding first love and rebuilding a family whose peace has been shattered.
I just received the book yesterday and I get the feeling I’m going to blaze through it in a matter of days!
Pvolve has been a hot new workout for a couple years. I’m sure you’ve seen Jennifer Aniston promoting it and I hadn’t tested it out until a studio opened up in Nashville…wow, it is a workout I can truly become addicted to! Instead of getting an in-studio membership I decided to buy this bundle so I can do them on my own time at home.
I’ve been noticing my arms need more toning since I didn’t work them out too much after a fracture in March but now that I’m healed I really want to get them to place I’m happy with. This full body workout is great for toning and mobility, which is perfect for where I’m physically at right now. There’s another bundle that includes the slant board as well, which I may add to my kit later on but you can do all the beginner workouts with the Power Bundle until you’re ready to take on more. Trust me, you’ll want to work up to the slant board. I tried it in class and learned very quickly my balance skills are not that capable yet.
A girl never has enough shoes! I found these scrolling through Amazon and the reviews were great so I decided to take the plunge. Typically, buying shoes online is always hard for me since I do wear a size 11 but these fit like a glove and were so comfortable! I wore them to a friend’s wedding last weekend and I was amazed that I didn’t need to break them in or suffer the wrath of blisters and shin splints. They’re perfect for special events but imagine these with a white tank, blazer and some cut off shorts…gorgeous summer outfit!
Now that the weather is finally amazing I’m enjoying days at the park with my pup Maddi. During the past 2 months I’ve been ready to leave and find the nearest air conditioner within like 10 minutes, but now I find so much peace sitting in the grass and watching Maddi wander around and make friends. Packing a picnic with snacks is something I used to love doing with my mom as a child and doing it now as an adult to just hit pause, enjoy a charcuterie board and some lemonade with friends while we watch our fur babies play is one of my favorite ways to spend the last few days of summer.
